Okay, so first off... Since we can't go below three, there are sixteen numbers the dice could add up to. So, say I roll an eight - there are seven numbers that would win, anything from five to eleven. Seven out of sixteen seems kind of close to an even split.

But that doesn't take into account how likely each roll itself is. There's three six sided dice, so there's two hundred and sixteen combinations, and more of those combinations are going to add up to something in the middle than they are at either extreme, right? So as long as you pick something in the middle... It's not, like, a guarantee that you won't lose, but.
