POPULATION: 38 Good morning, Camp Gatonina. The weather continues to be... okay, actually? Sunny skies as far as the eye can see. Not a single stormcloud to be found. Hardly the right environment for this grimm sort of occasion. At 9AM, two hours after the bugle call for breakfast, you will be drawn to the bonfire. Your body will move of its own volition, giving you little to no time to pick up any sort of protection. As you approach the bonfire, you will find that you are not the only one. The Camp Directors and Ogata seem to be marching to the same rhythm as the rest of you, their movements stiff as they approach from the direction of the Isolation Cabin. Once everyone has gathered in the same location, you will hear a voice that is recognized by none. "Haha, that was a trainwreck. Ogata Hyakunosuke, get over here." Ogata will be forced to approach the fire, as everyone else takes several steps back to form something of an impromptu fighting ring around the bonfire. "As for your opponent... Beauregard Lionett, why don't you give us a show?" Similarly to Ogata, Beauregard will be forced to approach the fire. Those in the audience will find themselves rooted to the spot, and the participants of the execution will hit an invisible barrier three feet away from the rest of the group if they try to escape. In her dominant hand, Beauregard will find a 20-sided dice... though one of the sides is now blank. You're all old pros at this. It goes without saying that it's time for the execution to begin.

Oh, for sure. I don't want either of them to die. But to condemn him for using underhanded tactics is a bit of a moot point, isn't it? He wants to live. So does she.

There's nothing fair about this whatsoever. To expect them to play fair is a joke. He just decided to go for it first.

... Do you think he's just fighting to leave as much a mark as possible, regardless of if he survives?

[ fuck - fuck, she yelps. it's enough to make her fall backwards, her hands coming up to her eye involuntarily. there's blood coming from under her palm, and she instinctively curls, letting out pained, harsh gasps.

she scrambles backwards a bit herself, trying to get distance, and the hand not pressing to her eye feels desperately around in the sand, casting for the mace. she can't quite get her fingers around it. ]

[ his whole body flinches as ogata lashes out at beau's eye, taking a half-step forward before he can stop himself, and getting nowhere. ]

—Awful terms.

[ 'kind' is not the word he'd use. ogata is a disaster of a man to the very end. ]

[And here he'd kind of hoped that a duel system would make things slightly more honorable--of course it couldn't be that easy.

Yasusada can't reach out to him from where he's standing, but he glances over just for a minute, unwilling to look away from the fight for too long.]

[and at the fingers in the eye, he's just. screaming.]

[He looks a little distant.]

Ahahaha. Never mind. Let it play it out as it will. Though if people kill him if he survives this fight...doesn't that make you lose a little faith in humanity? We'd be willing to kill two innocent people forced into an unfair situation. Well, one innocent forced to become a murderer, anyways.

[ it's not over, no. but. ]

[ she makes a sound that could've been a laugh if there were actually any body or real levity to it. ]

Then who are we to deny the man what he wants, hm?

[ this is apparently happening before eye, i guess ]

[She starts, but then - ah. Beau's eye. Her hand tightens on his as she just stares, clearly frightened.]

I don't have to applaud a man who'd use a weapon when his opponent laid down hers. Even if it's expected, it doesn't change that it's infuriating.

[a moot point doesn't remove her feelings of rage.]

But if there's one thing we can agree on it's that they shouldn't be up there in the first place.

[His own voice is surprisingly neutral]

It's ugly, but considering we voted him into this position--

he watches beau reel back, shoulders tense, eyes wide. ]

He is doing a good job of it. [ beau. ]

[she opens her mouth as if to say it -

but those sure are fingers in beau's eye and she's startled enough that she covers her mouth]

Nobody's going to do that, because he's not going to win in the first place.

Nobody is saying you should applaud him. But to cheer for her against him is in rather bad taste, just because he did something in this altogether tragic situation to try to get on top.

None of them is the winner, you know. They've both lost. Life, honor...it doesn't matter.

[slobjection]

Oh, I know.

[ he's not looking at dima he's staring at the fight........ ]

[ Her voice is cold. ]

I did not expect him to fight fairly. That does not mean I have to accept it.

[ ... ]

[And there goes an eye. He closes his own.]

You just want Beau to win because you like her, don't you?

[ he's not the only one; yin yu flinches, too. it's hard not to.

maybe kinder by ogata's terms, which are--disastrous. yeah. he knew this was going to be ugly. c'mon, beau... ]

[She doesn't answer that, because as soon as Ogata hits her eye, Natalie's full attention is on the match.]

[ tonbo's watching quietly today, not particularly in the mood to chat while watching this unfair fight. however as it goes on, and beau becomes increasingly more injured, the quiet flex of agitation is clear on his face.

despite his innocence, if ogata survives, he will not be leaving this place alive. ]

[is it in bad taste when ogata just jabbed beau's eyeballs out when he self-esteem spiraled himself into a corner in trial instead of wanting to live then.

she holds her tongue. for once.]

I'd rather you not lecture me, Anaido.

Even if others may not care for it - carrying yourself with honor is sometimes all people have left.

[Flayn's gaze flicks between Ogata, Beau, and the mace Beau is reaching for, her eyes wide and terrified. She looks conflicted - she understands fighting for your life when you know you're innocent, but to take another innocent life in turn...]
