strangely, he isn't too surprised when the bats come at him, but it doesn't mean that he'll be able to dodge them even if he was allowed to. he's exhausted and has been barely keeping it together as it stands. though the bat coming to knock him to the ground wakes him up as does the continual battering of his arm. the pain is excruciating but he doesn't say anything. he has said it before—he has dealt with worse. (is this really not the worse?)
he grits his teeth and bares it. he knew what he was doing...
however, as soon as the final blow that severs his arm off, he finally yells in pain. it's impossible not to. after that though, he doesn't say anything and instead, forces himself off the ground to get back up onto his knees while clutching where his arm used to be. there is blood on his hand and pouring from his wound. he expected this but not quite like this. no, but it seemed fair? poetic maybe. ]
