The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, the wheels on the bus go round and roundâŚuntil they suddenly stop. Just as quickly as the bus ride started, the sudden jolt of the bus hitting the brakes may disrupt you from your current activities (whatever those may be.) Itâs hard to determine just how long youâve been on this road trip, but some of you may be able to tell itâs been nearly forty-eight hours. Where could you have possibly been traveling? Worry not, dear travelers! Why, if youâll wait one moment, the doors of the bus will gently open⌠âŚand the floors of the bus will tilt, spitting every single one of you out onto the ground with little warning before the doors slam closed and the bus begins to drive away. As you gather your wits and regain your bearings, the first thing you may notice is the very distinct scent of pine and the lingering scent of rain in the air. Beneath your feet, the words BUP STOP have been spray painted into the dirt and above you a large wooden sign proudly declares that youâve arrived at your destination. Welcome to CAMP GATONINA. Well-maintained greenery surrounds the area with trees as far as the eye can see, and a dirt path seems to lead straight into camp. Fog looms in the distance, though perhaps thatâs from the rainy weather. Come along, don't be shy. Youâre welcomed here, after all! As you make your way forward, youâll soon be greeted with the sound of a bright and almost cheerful voice that seems to be amplified somehow, gathering the attention of all. "Right this way, ladies and gentlemen. Your lovely hosts await!" A cloud of fog parts, and in the center of the path sits a three-tiered platform. Three figures stand on the platform before you, two of whom hold a white basket with depictions of the sun. Despite looking directly at them, itâs hard to make out the features of these three outside of their very unusual outfits. Youâll have plenty of time to explore the camp later, but for now it seems that the figure in the top hat has a megaphone in hand and an announcement to make. "That should be all of you. Let's not waste time, shall we? You'll need these sooner than later, I imagine." The figure with the top hat begins to call out names as the other two figures hold onto the basket, using their free hands to distribute small keys with different wooden keychains shaped like animals. When the final key is distributed, the megaphone is lifted once more as the figure without the basket gestures to the space around you. "Welcome to Camp Gatonina. We look forward to your stay." [ooc: for the sake of your mods, please choose only one NPC to speak to for now! Should we feel confident with our tagload, we may open this up to more tags later, but don't worry! There will be more opportunities to speak with them in the future... Please be sure to read all of the new information provided to you! In addition, please keep in mind that this is not the week zero mingle! A new mingle will go up tomorrow to officially begin the game, so please do not use this post to toplevel regarding the new locations! You may, however, PC to your hearts' content ♥] |

...It's alright. I am, to a point. I'm afraid it's a bit complicated to explain.
no subject
Oh, no need to explain, sir! Although I'm not well-versed in xenobiology, it's quite natural for the Galaxy's different species to have different lifespans.
While I don't have specific records, I myself was likely constructed several hundred years ago, you know. Not so long, in terms of Galactic history, really.
no subject
...ah, though. he's gotten pretty fond of this talking statue robot. there's a twitch of a smile, though it's hidden. ] I will defer to your wisdom then, C3PO, since you're even older than I. [ respect your elders... ]
no subject
Even with my construction, my memories only go back roughly 40 years, which was when my last memory wipe was performed. So it only feels as if I've been operating for that long, really.
no subject
a memory wipe... how curious. he doesn't know much about c3po in... a lot of ways, but that makes sense. there are ghosts that literally eat memories, so, being able to have them removed is not far fetched. ] So, before that, you may have operated a different life entirely?
[ hm. ] We might call that reincarnating, in a sense. [ how similar! ]
no subject
I suppose it is in a way similar to some cultures' beliefs about reincarnation. I had never considered it, but it's a rather poetic way to describe it. [nicer than clinical and often casual decision to format a hard drive]
Is that something you believe in, sir?
no subject
It is quite common, in the place I am from. Normal, even. [ and the thing he deals with the most often! that whole ghost city thing. it's like the island of misfit toys: souls that have yet to move on exist in flux. ] There is no end to life; death is a transition between being and not being. It's a part of the natural harmony of things; you practice and cultivate to reach immortality, or you die and reincarnate and try again.
[ kind of a nice attitude to have at a murdergame, but you know. ]
no subject
Where is it that you're from, Officer Yu? I'm learning about a good number of new places and cultures as of late.
no subject
he shakes his head after a moment, though. ] I haven't been there in a very long time. I live in a place called the Ghost City, now.
I respect you and your research
thank you i tried my best
It is a rather foreboding place, for most.
[ ?????? ]
no subject
What manner of things happen there to earn it such a name? It's hard to imagine someone having as gentle of demeanor as you living in a place called "Ghost City."
no subject
...that's kind of you to say, but, it is a place named for the residents who live there. Most of the 'people' in the ghost city are low level spirits and demons. [ ah. ] I am not, though the master of the city, who I work for, is. That isn't to say that there aren't humans there, or even heavenly officials, but it is a place where those of a higher standing go to experience the less virtuous sides of life.
[ He lives in ghost vegas. ]
incredible
Pardon me, sir, but when you say "spirits" and "demons" are you speaking of some type of race or species?
sometimes you're just the ghost vegas police! it rly be like that.
...Yes and no. Both are creatures created from resentful energy; often, spirits especially are those who were not properly put to rest. It was one of my original theories for the island, and I'm still not entirely sure that wasn't the case.
Demons are a bit different, and typically originate in a different realm than the human one, if that makes sense.
no subject
And all these different beings live together in one city? I'm not sure if I'd be eager to visit such a place. Even with such noble residents are yourself, sir.
[thinking about his mention of a theory about the island]
What do you suppose is happening here?
no subject
[ yin yu is very good at his job, and very thorough. he doesn't stop people from making their own bad choices, but he does keep ghost city relatively safe. hua chengzhu would have nothing less. ] If for some reason you find yourself there, this one would be pleased to give you a tour. [ and all of the rowdy demons and ghosts would probably bombard the poor guy with questions, but it would otherwise be fine.
but... ah. his expression isn't visible, but his brows furrow. ] ....Truth to be told, I don't have much of a theory at all. The island felt a bit more familiar--when we first washed up there, I thought that Hua Chengzhu had sent me to rid the island of the spirits that inhabited it. I've done many similar tasks for my lord. It was only that it was an island that was particularly strange, since my lord's domain covers the land moreso than the sea.
[ but black water sinking ships doesn't like to help people, and so, sometimes, he's still cleaning up messes in remote locations. ]
But I know little about many of the things here, and even less that could be helpful enough to theorize. [ yin yu gives a small duck of his head. ] I apologize.
no subject
There's certainly no need for apologies, sir! It seems that even this camp's directors aren't entirely sure of the circumstances that brought us here.
To be clear: what you mean by "spirits" is indeed some sort of residual life force from departed organic beings? Given what little I know from Master Luke, and the strange atmosphere of the surrounding forest, I suppose such a thing isn't outside the realm of possibility. Although it is well outside my knowledge.
[that knowledge being: the Force doesn't make any logical sense but does seem to exist and sometime involves dead people or invisible energy capable of exerting very real effects on the world]
