Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and explore your surroundings. After all, it seems the fog has receded enough to reveal a few new locations.

Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week.

If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Purple Heart manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Winter Wizard will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Black Shadows doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's their week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of them, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies.

As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally.

To further complicate matter, at the start of this week everyone will wake up with a tattoo of a star on the back of their hands. Though you will be unaware of its purpose at first, it will quickly become apparent the moment you say the words "I wish" out loud. It's a wish granting star! Or, well, sort of. Regardless of what you wish for, the result of the wish is always material, small, and never actually useful for what the character actually desires. They cannot cause effects or change anything, nor will it result in a weapon or items that can be used to solve a murder. For example, wishing for an exit will result in an Emergency Exit sign materializing in your hands.

You will all get three wishes each. The star will become fainter with each wish, until disappearing once they make their third wish. All items gained through this effect will disappear once Week 2 officially begins. Good luck.

Don't got 'em.

[He sounds unbothered by this. It's not a sensitive topic for him.]

Though I guess I technically have a job now, so my scamming skills won't be so useful anymore. The boss might get mad at me scamming other mafia members.

[...]

Could you leave if you wanted to, or is it kind of a lifelong blackmail situation going on?

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-16 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
[There is a whole lot of things to unpack there, and Chuuya isn't one to unpack things easily. So Natalie gets the abridged version.]

The boss has something I want. In order to get it, I have to work for the mafia and rise up in the ranks. I'm guessing he expects me to become loyal over time, but as soon as I get what I want from him I'm out of there.

[Or so he thinks.]

Ah. That kind of blackmail. It must be something pretty important.

[It's an offhand comment that he can either expand on or let go, because she doesn't want to push him to expand if he doesn't want to, though she is curious.]

It's good that you aren't stuck, though, I guess.

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-16 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it is.

[But he's going to leave it at that, because the full truth of it is...whoo boy.

Instead, he picks up the dice again.
]

Wanna learn a few more scam tricks? You never know when they might be useful.

[Also, task this week.]

[She scoots a little bit closer to the table, nodding.]

Go for it.

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-16 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, here's the second one.

[He collects the three dice, and he puts them with the other two into the cup. And he shakes it around for a bit as he talks.]

What you do is you tell some long, winding story, or maybe some complicated rules to a game of chance. Whether you win or lose that game, it doesn't matter. Because you're not the scammer, you're the distraction. While you're distracting someone, your partner in crime pickpockets them.

[No pickpocketing happens this time, since Chuuya doesn't have a second person helping him, but as he says that he does glance to a spot just over Natalie's shoulder, as if he's looking at someone there.]

[personal profile] successives 2020-06-16 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
People really don't feel someone taking their shit if they're distracted enough...?

[She doesn't quite turn to look in the same direction, but there is a brief moment where moves her head slightly that way before giving him a flat look.]

Haha, very funny.
shortforever: (16)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-16 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[When she turns her head slightly to look, that's when Chuuya palms the dice and hides them under his hand.]

When you gotta feed yourself, you gotta learn all the tricks. Making people focus on other stuff while you work your magic is important.

[personal profile] successives 2020-06-17 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
So you can switch glasses when my back is turned, right?

[It is a mystery as to whether he'll understand that reference, but.]
shortforever: (09)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-17 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily I'm not out to poison you here.

[Signs point to 'maybe'.]

[personal profile] successives 2020-06-17 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh huh. I've got my eyes on you.

[She's very clearly joking.]
shortforever: (09)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-18 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He snickers before scooping up the dice in the cup.]

It's too bad nobody has money here. We can't test your new skill on anyone.
successives: (valse de l'adieu)

[personal profile] successives 2020-06-18 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[She shrugs.]

Money's not the only thing you can win.
shortforever: (56)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-18 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah? What are you looking to win instead?
successives: (valse de l'adieu)

[personal profile] successives 2020-06-18 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[She shrugs.]

I don't know. Favors, or something like that? We could get someone to clean our cabin for the next week.
shortforever: (09)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-18 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I'd be down for that. Let's go look for a sucker to con into cleaning our cabin for us.

[After a second:]

As long as it's not Percy or Jason.
shortforever: (13)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-18 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Are those two your friends?
successives: (gymnopedie no 1)

[personal profile] successives 2020-06-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
...I guess you could call it that, yeah.
shortforever: (22)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-19 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fair then, we can avoid scamming them.

[Percy seems too nice to scam anyway.]
