Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and explore your surroundings. After all, it seems the fog has receded enough to reveal a few new locations. Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week. If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Purple Heart manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Winter Wizard will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Black Shadows doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's their week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of them, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies. As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally. To further complicate matter, at the start of this week everyone will wake up with a tattoo of a star on the back of their hands. Though you will be unaware of its purpose at first, it will quickly become apparent the moment you say the words "I wish" out loud. It's a wish granting star! Or, well, sort of. Regardless of what you wish for, the result of the wish is always material, small, and never actually useful for what the character actually desires. They cannot cause effects or change anything, nor will it result in a weapon or items that can be used to solve a murder. For example, wishing for an exit will result in an Emergency Exit sign materializing in your hands. You will all get three wishes each. The star will become fainter with each wish, until disappearing once they make their third wish. All items gained through this effect will disappear once Week 2 officially begins. Good luck. |

What happens if there is no spirit?
[Not that there wouldn't be, he just wants to see what Wei Wuxian will tell him really.
Pennyworth, on the other hand, is one-fourth of the way down the row already; low to the ground, creeping, eyes wide. He pauses and waits while the weed thrashes, and then slowly starts slinking along the edge of the radishes again.
One he is in range, he crouches low, calibrates the distance somehow by wiggling his back end............. waits............ and then leaps from there to the weed for a pounce.]

He waits until Pennyworth pounces and then LAUNCHES TOWARD HIM, SHAKING THE WEED MADLY. Counterattack. The weed strikes back... He laughs, dirt all over his front and smeared across one cheek, but looking very satisfied.]
--Depends on how the spirit was destroyed. Something that's been annihilated or knocked out of the reincarnation cycle can't be brought back to be interrogated, or brought back at all. [rip mxy] Sometimes, spirits disappear and no one can contact them because no one knows where to look. [rip wwx] Other times, a body is so traumatized on the way to death that the spirit itself shatters into pieces. [rip nmj and xxc] At least in that case, you can collect the scraps, but there's no guarantee you can put them back together.
[He finally sits upright, patting some of the dirt off of himself. Nasty.]
Still, even if the spirit of the deceased is gone, there are likely others around that witnessed what happened.

With tail bristled, Pennyworth tries to both arch up and jump back at the same time. This only makes him cinnamon bun up, ass over head, and he just... rolls up stupidly until he's accidentally flipped upside down. Startled by his own orientation, he scrambles in the dirt and gallops away down the row.]
True, but only if the witnesses are still alive. Then again, I suppose you simply summon their spirits instead.
Are you finished torturing my cat?
no subject
Ah, sorry, sorry! Haha, he's just too fun.
[HE LOVES CATS. But with the distraction gone, he'll go back to actually doing work.]
Anyway! Yes, when I said others, I meant other spirits. There's an entire musical language that's used to communicate with them, and there are always a handful floating around to ask questions to.
no subject
I see. Your theories and practices for necromancy are interesting.
[WHY DOES HE SOUND LIKE A HARVARD PROFESSOR AT A QUANTUM PHYSICS COUNCIL.]
You use... [He hums thoughtfully, pausing to think.] Life energy, I assume? [Wei Wuxian is fantasy Chinese maybe, so:] Qi.
no subject
Also wow this is stupid why is this the quantum physics council of zombies GOOD LORD. At least Wei Wuxian is happy to engage just about anyone in conversation regarding Theories And Practices even if they're fuckin ten.]
Haha, thank you. [A GRIN don't be proud of this wei wuxian you fuck.] And good eye! You're mostly right, but it depends on the type of cultivation. Contacting spirits through qin music relies on internal qi, but waking a fierce corpse relies on external resentful energy - the yin that's left over, you see?
no subject
I get it. Yin and yang.
[He gets the impression that apparently not a lot of people have the luxury of getting that in Wei Wuxian's case, though. He stops with the hoe so he can bend down and use his hands to tear away a weed too close for chopping.]
And demons? Like your last adventure.
no subject
That question has him glancing over though, pausing in his attempts to uproot a particularly stubborn spiny weed with deeply grown roots.]
Hm? What about them? We don't have demons exactly like that in my world, so I can't speak much to the ones on the boat.
no subject
What else? Corpses, spirits, maybe demons. Monsters?

Things that come from living humans, things that come from dead humans, things that come from living non-humans, and things that come from dead non-humans. A yao would come from a living non-human, for example! And a ghost would come from a dead human.
