Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and explore your surroundings. After all, it seems the fog has receded enough to reveal a few new locations.

Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week.

If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Winter Wizard manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Black Shadows will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Purple Heart doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's their week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of them, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies.

As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally.

To further complicate matter, you will quickly discover that something about you has changed. At the start of the week, every single one of you will find yourselves aligned with one of four elements: fire, water, air or earth. Though your affiliation will not allow you to perform any outright elemental manipulation, you will find yourself reflecting your affiliation through one physical attribute. For example: A fire aligned may become hot to the touch, an earth aligned might discover their skin is now coarse like sandpaper, an air aligned might find their hair constantly flowing in an unfelt breeze, and a water aligned might be................. very sweaty. Whatever the case, this effect will fade away once Week 3 officially begins.

That does seem to be the case. Death is something experienced by all organic beings, after all.

[He looks around the hall, and then focuses on Wei Wuxian for a moment, tilting his head]

Do you think that they're truly dead? The one's in this hall, I mean.

Haha, that it is, that it is. The unfortunate matter of being flesh and blood! Do you not have to worry about it, then?

[He knows enough about robot-type things in general to assume?? They aren't?? Fully organic, at least?! But he has no idea honestly.

As for the question, there's no pause before he shakes his head.]

Not now, no. Not at this point. After all, they can still talk to us, can't they?

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-02 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
That is my understanding of the situation as well, sir. It's certainly not a natural state of things, which gives some degree of hope of a resolution.

In any case, I don't have to worry about such things in the same way as organic beings, no. Although of course my systems can break down over time if not properly maintained, or were the logic function computer in my head to be destroyed it'd be more or less the equivalent of dying for a droid. [he shudders somewhat at the thought]

I will say that the thought isn't any more pleasant for me than it is for humans, all the same.
givethemhell: (the weight of your sins)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-04 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
[He just looks at C3PO's noggin, like he's trying to imagine what a logic function computer inside someone's head looks like...]

Mm... Well, dying is dying, even if it's not the same from one being to another. Can't think of many people who'd find it pleasant! Even in places like this where death may not be truly final, it's still death.

[He flips another piece of paper into the fire, sighing. Ah, humans and apparently non-humans and just Every Being and their complex, sordid, death relationships.]
machinetranslation: (oh dear oh dear)

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-05 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
[he watches him tossing papers into the fire]

If I may ask, who is it that you're sending wishes for?
givethemhell: (we won't burn out)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-05 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[He hums a little, folding up another piece.]

All of our dead. I didn't know any of them well, but it's a terrible thing, to be forgotten after you die.

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-06 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Is that what you're wishing for them, then? To not be forgotten?

[that small part of his personality that persists throughout resets and memory wipes flashes with faces, now unconnected to names and events; threepio shakes his head a bit, to clear it away]
givethemhell: (a sky of stars)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-06 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, more or less. It's a small token since they're not gone and they're probably busy with their own work, but, you know.

[A gentle, sloping shrug. It's a small step to take, and maybe at least one or two of them will feel even a tiny bit better for it.

Though he notices the headshaking and, curiously:]
Are you alright there, friend?
machinetranslation: (we're doomed)

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-06 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, my apologies, sir. Bits of old data, most likely from previous versions of my software prior to my most recent memory wipe. I'm afraid they don't make any sense to me anymore.
givethemhell: (restless)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-06 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[HE IS TOO YE OLDE FOR THIS and cocks his head to the side, blinking.]

I'm not sure I understand, exactly... Technology is still a bit foreign to me!

["A BIT".]

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-07 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing to concern yourself with, sir. It's quite routine for droids such as myself to have their memories erased and personalities reset when changing ownership.

Often, it's done rather quickly and so parts of these memories can remain, although without context they pose little security risk. I assure you I'm functioning perfectly well.

[please don't decommission him!]
givethemhell: (i'd say i told you so but)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-07 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wei Wuxian who still doesn't understand a damn thing about robots, sitting here like ownership????]

That sounds absolutely terrible. [BLUNTLY.] Doesn't it bother you at all? To have things like that taken away from you?
machinetranslation: (at your service)

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-08 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[He blinks. People keep asking him this recently when no humans he's ever talked to before have taken an interest in it. He answers somewhat cautiously.]

I enjoy the current memories I have, sir. But of course recognize the need for such things should a droid's software be encountering issues. It's never been for me to decide, in any case.
givethemhell: (meet great change)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-09 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives a little quirk of a smile, though there's something a little hard to read in it.]

Does that bother you? Not having a decision like that in your own hands? Hah - maybe it's because we don't have technology where I come from, but I can't wrap my head around anyone being alright with living that way, you know?
machinetranslation: (now see here)

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-09 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm not necessarily living. If you take my meaning, sir. Droids don't exactly lead independent lives. That I know of, anyway.
givethemhell: (dead by now)

[personal profile] givethemhell 2020-07-09 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[HE JUST HUMS... BECAUSE HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND.]

It's quite the concept to try to digest, coming from a world without anything like that.

[personal profile] machinetranslation 2020-07-11 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
It seems the majority of people I've met in the past few weeks come from worlds without droids. It's been quite a challenge of communication but one I am well-suited for.

I am, of course, always happy to answer any enquiries, sir.
