Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and explore your surroundings. After all, it seems the fog has receded enough to reveal a few new locations. Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week. If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Winter Wizard manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Black Shadows will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Purple Heart doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's their week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of them, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies. As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally. To further complicate matter, you will quickly discover that something about you has changed. At the start of the week, every single one of you will find yourselves aligned with one of four elements: fire, water, air or earth. Though your affiliation will not allow you to perform any outright elemental manipulation, you will find yourself reflecting your affiliation through one physical attribute. For example: A fire aligned may become hot to the touch, an earth aligned might discover their skin is now coarse like sandpaper, an air aligned might find their hair constantly flowing in an unfelt breeze, and a water aligned might be................. very sweaty. Whatever the case, this effect will fade away once Week 3 officially begins. |
armory!
I am. [ a beat. ] It's been a while since I've carried a long sword, so I may be a bit rusty.
[ coming over to stand besides giyuu, he looks up at the rack of practice weapons, thoughtful! ]

It's fine.
[ giyuu returns the bow, properly, and looks back at the choices and then back to yin yu. ]
I don't mean to train seriously.

the earth master's shovel is his primary tool, but it is rarely a weapon. for his work, yin yu typically carries a short sword and a dagger or two-- his own cultivation arts are long lost to the sands of time, but, like any former martial worth his salt, he'd practiced his swordsmanship plenty.
he nods to giyuu's comment, and selects a practice sword of his own. the weight is nice, the grip familiar, and he takes a step back to test it in his hands. ] I hope to be at least a fruitful partner to spar with, then.
[ let's do this! ]

I'm surprised that you would be willing.
[ giyuu pads over towards the other side of the training ring and waits for yin yu to take his place. he honestly doesn't know what to expect from yin yu given how little they've spoke in great lengths of the details of their homes but— ]
Is there a style that you've practiced?

[ a very, very long time ago. the memories are old and nostalgic, a little bittersweet, but not bad. yin yu had learned all of the tricks and trade necessary to behest his family name, to be a good shixiong, to be...
well, he's not that person anymore. he nods to giyuu and moves to the other side of the ring, fingers curling against the pommel of the blade, exhaling steady. ] I am proficient in most styles of martial swordsmanship, though my own training came from the western Yin sect. It is more often one handed, but I can adapt to whatever you prefer.

I'm curious how our sword styles would fair against one another. The other Pillars back home all have different styles and we would train against one another so we could see our weaknesses.
[ giyuu the stance that giyuu takes is a relaxed one—both of his hands are to one side, where one is holding onto the sword while the other hovers above it, but there's no tension in his body. ]
I'm unable to use my style to the fullest here, but I should still be able to preform the basics of the forms.

then, with that said, he shifts into his own stance. loose and relaxed as well, knees a bit bent, sword forward and protective. naru i have to bullshit all of this so just assume it is Correct okay thank you. ] Please, then, show me your skills the best that you can.
[ with a nod! it's the ancient chinese version of "bring it". let's go baby ]

[ i will accept all of the bullshit because mentally imagining all of this and then transcribing it into words is not going to be easy. so, while giyuu's style isn't meant to be an aggressive but more reactive and defensive, he still moves at yin yu with a straight forward attack.
giyuu just wants to test out yin yu's speed and dexterity as he quickly closes in the distance with an upward swing of the sword. he aims to strike yin yu's midsection. ]
