Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and explore your surroundings. After all, it seems the fog has receded enough to reveal a few new locations.

Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week.

If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Black Shadows manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Purple Heart will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Winter Wizard doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's their week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of them, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies.

As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally.

Speaking of walking down memory lane, it seems the theater and the portal aren't the only places to relive some fond memories... or revisit ones that are better left in the past. Yes, it's memshare week. It doesn't matter if you cover yourself up from head to toe, or pirouette away from anyone who might make physical contact with you. Simple proximity OR eye contact is enough to get the ball rolling. As soon as this simple condition is met, you will find yourself reliving the other party's memories from their point of view. These memories can either be canon memories, or memories from the game they were previously in. Regardless of what the case may be, this effect will last until Week 4 officially begins.

Have fun, everyone!

The aggregate sentience of the seventh fonon.

It's a concept that truly exists [unlike """gods"""], but is strikingly rare. Gather enough seventh fonons in one place, or tune exactly on Lorelei's frequency, and you'll be able to hear their voice.

[she has no hecking clue what a fonon is but needing to ask just makes her feel kind of stupid]

[you and me both sister

but he can see the confusion pretty plainly.]

...Fonons are one of the building blocks of all matter in my world. There's seven types. It's not important.

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-03 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
...if it is what forms the foundation of your world, then it is very important, is it not?
getdrekt: ('Cause your words don't translate)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-03 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
...It's not important for you to understand it, if you're not interested.

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-03 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I never said that I am uninterested.
getdrekt: (where your soul should be)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-03 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Are you interested?

[he gestures to a pew.]

If you're serious, I can fill you in. But I warn you, it's considerably heavy and boring if you don't have a scenario to apply it to.

I always welcome the opportunity to learn something new.

[time to take a seat.]

Please, enlighten me!

[closes my niji eyes as i am forced by my own hand yet again to explain bullshit auldrant science. i'm copypasting this. i refuse to rewrite it.]

Fonons are one of the basic elements that compose all matter and structure in the known universe—the building blocks of life. Every structure and living thing has its own intrinsic vibration and emits a corresponding sound. Those are divided into six fonons: dark, light, earth, fire, water, and wind. Tiny differences in their vibration and connections distinguish individual matter.

However, later on, a seventh fonon—the fonon of sound—was discovered. Previously, research had been limited to base elementals. Fonons are particles, so they exist on a physical plane, and their distance and relation to fonons around them determines how they behave. As everyone's chemical makeup is distinct, everything in the world vibrates at a different frequency.

Additionally, fonons themselves have a base frequency they vibrate at—and when a number of these are close enough to each other, via natural or artificial means, they'll form into an aggregate sentience that can be spoken with. "Lorelei" is the nomenclature for the aggregate sentience of the seventh fonon—but its existence is fleeting, rare, and a sign of Yulia's pact with Lorelei.

[okay, but.

flayn finds all this fascinating?? she's paying rapt attention to his explanation. she has learned something about LITERAL worldbuilding today! that's so cool!]

...I see... Ah, what did this Yulia make a pact with Lorelei for?
getdrekt: ('Cause we hate what you do)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
To use Lorelei's power to save the planet.
fishingforcompliments: (003)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
...your planet was in danger?
getdrekt: (where your soul should be)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Once or twice.
fishingforcompliments: (004)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I am glad it was able to be saved...?
getdrekt: ('Cause we hate what you do)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
[he nods at the question. it's okay.]
fishingforcompliments: (010)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[phew. oh, good. she lets out a little sigh of relief]
getdrekt: ('Cause there's a hole)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I imagine it's experiencing some problems at the moment, however.

[extrapolating. it's just a guess.]
fishingforcompliments: (014)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
...what makes you say that?

[her first thought - is it because someone he knew left the planet and became a god??]
getdrekt: (where your soul should be)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
[he hums, and starts ticking some things off.]

The fall of the Order of Lorelei, leaving a power vacuum. The cessation of Score readings. The planet storm's removal will cause fonic artes to weaken world-wide, leading to a need for new power sources. General chaos from the fall of Eldrant, replicated lands, and lack of understanding towards major changes.

If I knew better, I'd say Auldrant at large is headed for a war. But I don't.
fishingforcompliments: (020)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[War.

Flayn shudders.]

...I hope that it is not. But... that does seem like quite a lot for your world to be dealing with all at once.
getdrekt: ('Cause we hate what you do)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
[he nods.]

The world has dealt with hundreds of conflicts and wars. If nothing else, the groups in charge now will be able to divert the course away from violence as best as they are able to. They have the support of the world's major governments—it's simply a matter of quelling rebels and upstarts who disagree with the changes.

Some level of violence is inevitable—but if it leads to overall peace, then so be it.
fishingforcompliments: (022)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
[she hates it, but...]

...I suppose you are right. What is the saying - "Peace must be won at the point of a sword"?

It would be nice if such a thing was unnecessary, though.
getdrekt: ('Cause there's a hole)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-04 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
An apt expression. And shadows show us how bright the light can be.

But wars are won through strength—peace, through ideas. There has to a balance, for an ongoing solution.
fishingforcompliments: (003)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-04 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
One of the professors at the monastery said something similar - that if a place shines brighter than anywhere else, its shadows will be darker too...

[hmm.]

I suppose that means if a situation seems to be especially dark, it can be all the brighter when you manage to make it through it. ...I hope that is true.
