POPULATION: 36 Rise and shine, Camp Gatonina. With yesterday's announcement weighting on your mind, you are left to your own devices for the entirety of the morning. The 7:00 AM bugle call will announce breakfast as usual, and those who still manage to retain an appetite under the current circumstances are free to make their way over to the mess hall in order to grab a bite. It is not until 12:00 PM that something changes. Coming as a surprise to none, given your past experiences, your body will move of its own accord towards the Mess Hall. You are powerless to resist. The Mess Hall doors will lock once everyone is inside, and for some reason — your vision will momentarily blur before everything snaps back into focus. Winter Wizard, Purple Heart and Black Shadows will be seated at a table by the enclosed bulletin board. Their bunnies will be beside them, dressed impeccably. They share a look, visibly uncomfortable, before they rise from their seats. "So it seems one of your own has been killed. Now's the time to work together and find the responsible party." "Nine hours remain to discuss and locate. Still have time." "We'll help you as much as we can from our end, too, so... Good luck." Well, you know the drill by now. - - - Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third trial! We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games. While there was a mini-investigation on Friday, today is the day participants can really dive in to investigate areas in the game setting, check over the body and review evidence that they find! Please see the toplevels in this post for more information. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. One of your NPCs will also be accompanying you on these visits. Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously. Please also be sure to read the voting page carefully.

Yeah, that's right. I wasn't able to stay upright to even make it up the beach normally, let alone to the cabins. So I cut through the forest to give me some leverage.

None of them were with me, but once I got back to the cabins, all of them did see I was having trouble with it.

[okay! he puts the boots aside and picks up Guy's pants next. he checks the pockets but also looks them over for signs of forest and/or lake debris]

All right; I'll double check with them later. But none of them saw you get those injuries on your legs, did they?

[The pockets are empty. There is signs of both sand and debris from the forest, though it looks like it's been mostly brushed off.]

No, they didn't. I was landing on my face too often, so most of the time I wasn't even getting up off the ground unless I had to.

And just to make sure, those injuries are from running through the forest without a sense of balance, right?

[dropping the pants and examining his shirt next. anything out of the ordinary about that??? IF NOT he is going to investigate Guy's feet and hands]

[The shirt is fine! The jacket he wears over top is in about the same shape as the pants were, some leftover debris that's mostly been brushed away.

His feet are fine. His hands have healing bruises and marks along the knuckles and tops of the fingers, but nothing over a week old. His palms seem to have gotten the brunt of the newer set of scrapes.]

Between that and catching myself so often in the cabins and the ground in general? Yeah. I think the forest was the only place anything really broke the skin.

[Guy gets a sympathetic look at that]

Well, that sucks.

But if you want someone to look over your scrapes after this, let me know. I could borrow some antiseptic from Dick.

[and Akira also-- QUITE RUDELY-- reaches out to run his hands through Guy's hair to check it for abnormalities]

His hair and scalp are perfectly fine, outside from a mild bump on the back that Akira will recognize as the EXACT place someone got hit in the head with a cabbage.]

[anyway two more things: one, does Guy have any gloves because if so Akira is checking those next! inside and out for any abnormalities]

[two: he is examining the sword for any abnormalities as well]

[He does! The ones he has with this outfit are fabric instead of leather, so there's some mild tearing and dark marks along the palms of both gloves.

The sword sure is very pretty and kind of heavy on the hilt, but examining the blade will find that it's clean.]

Sheesh, this thing is heavy. How much can you lift?

[examining the hilt?? is the hilt normal too???]

nope. it smells like a mix of dirt and wood.]

Hahah -- It's not that bad, man, come on.

[The more elaborate portions of the hilt look clean! The grip and the base looks like they've been roughened up with repeated wear, but nothing noticeable other than that.]

What are these from?

Beats me. I assume it's from one of the trees. That's when everything got all scuffed up.

I dunno. It doesn't really look like the mark a tree would make.

[FROWNING AT THE MARKS]

I thought it might be blood from your hands but it just smells like sweat and wood.

Have you ever fallen and tried to catch yourself on a tree, Akira? Guess what. It doesn't work.

None of these were ever bleeding badly enough to get onto my gloves. If you want me to put them on and show you that they're the same thing, I'd be more than happy.

I said I'd own up to it, regardless of my reasoning. Maybe that means being willing to take a few hits. I'm fine with that.
