POPULATION: 36 Rise and shine, Camp Gatonina. With yesterday's announcement weighting on your mind, you are left to your own devices for the entirety of the morning. The 7:00 AM bugle call will announce breakfast as usual, and those who still manage to retain an appetite under the current circumstances are free to make their way over to the mess hall in order to grab a bite. It is not until 12:00 PM that something changes. Coming as a surprise to none, given your past experiences, your body will move of its own accord towards the Mess Hall. You are powerless to resist. The Mess Hall doors will lock once everyone is inside, and for some reason — your vision will momentarily blur before everything snaps back into focus. Winter Wizard, Purple Heart and Black Shadows will be seated at a table by the enclosed bulletin board. Their bunnies will be beside them, dressed impeccably. They share a look, visibly uncomfortable, before they rise from their seats. "So it seems one of your own has been killed. Now's the time to work together and find the responsible party." "Nine hours remain to discuss and locate. Still have time." "We'll help you as much as we can from our end, too, so... Good luck." Well, you know the drill by now. - - - Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third trial! We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games. While there was a mini-investigation on Friday, today is the day participants can really dive in to investigate areas in the game setting, check over the body and review evidence that they find! Please see the toplevels in this post for more information. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. One of your NPCs will also be accompanying you on these visits. Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously. Please also be sure to read the voting page carefully.

but steph will check the imprint out more closely. what is it shaped like? is the blood like sleeping into the ground or is it more like a puddle? ]

[going last is terrible y'all get to everything first. HE'LL LOOK OVER at them handling the blood and then just follow the path he was looking at. Anything along it on the way to the lake or over near the bonfire?]

[I'll be nice to aki just this once. there's nothing really on the way to the lake, but if he's coming back to look at the bonfire with the others he may notice there's...some kind of small, fuzzy imprint on the ground just off to the side of the large bloody imprint. there's also a larger circular fuzzy imprint in the dirt that seems to surround the imprint itself.

inside the imprint, tonbo will maybe (??) recognize that there is a bullet near the edge! there are also two bullet shells on the ground nearby.

...as for poor steph, she'll notice that the imprint is, unfortunately, seeping into the ground and it's kinda...corpse-shaped. even more upsetting, next to tonbo's newly found bullet, there's something round, red, and a little, uh, stringy on the ground.]

anyways, tonbo's avoiding that to go pick up the bullet and casings. we're gonna say he has a napkin in his pocket to safely hold these things. any blood on the bullet? marks on the casings? would he even recognize these things? who knows!

also unlike me, the fool who forgot, tonbo made a note of the spacing of the drag marks to compare it to the ones from the lake. ]

[ stephanie takes a few moments to just fucking stare at the sky, wondering how did her life bring her to this exact spot. is this batman punishing her. who did she piss off this time in the universe.

but once that passes, she will first. take a better look at what's there. it's the eye, isn't it. she is going to look at this thing that is most definitely the fuckin eye and see what its condition is. i hate you. ]

Wei Wuxian will go over to get a closer look at these... fuzzy imprints... How big is the smaller one off to the side? Is it fuzzy like some sort of furry paw print? What does the larger fuzzy imprint look like compared to the first one? Are they shallow imprints or do they go deep into the ground? Also just to be clear, the bigger fuzzy imprint is a circle around the bloody body imprint?]

[no blood on the bullet other than where it was in the bloody imprint of the body! it'll be hard to really gauge much about it especially if tonbo is unfamiliar. also tonbo can probably gauge they're the same as the ones from the lake seeing how they're coming from that way.

stephanie gets...a brand new, gross eyeball. y...ay. it's in pretty bad condition, like it was straight-up pulled out. hence the dangly bits. great!

and the fuzzy imprints are both just round markings, shallow and just light imprints in the dirt. the bigger fuzz is around the bloody body imprint, and the smaller one is just off to the side of it. it's hard to say what might have caused these, but the smaller one is about the size of wei wuxian's hand.]

[ frowns at the bullet placement! where exactly in the imprint is it? chest? stomach? ]

But it seems that we are missing one given these.

[ mutsunokami is the gun otaku here but tonbo probably? knows? a little? about guns given sengoku era. ye olden ones of course ]

He didn't have any bullet wounds, right?

[ well she is going to very carefully pick up the eye. can i say she has gloves i'm in tears please.

and then turn her attention back to the blood party. is there like anything particular about how the body shape is laid out? ]

That's his cabin right there. So... what, did he get ambushed as soon as he stepped outside or something?

If that happened, that would be an indication that he was targeted intentionally, yes?

[Does the big fuzzy imprint have any breaks in it, or is it a continuous fuzzy imprint? Same for the tiny one, is it just a single circular mark or does anything else stand out about it? He'll also gesture toward the smaller fuzzy imprint.]

--There's a weird marking over here, but I can't tell what made it. There's only the one, too.

[the bullet was just on the edge of the imprint, nowhere in particular. the body shape itself is sort of large and flat as if the body fell while bleeding and stayed down, and the fuzzy imprint has maybe like a small break here or there, likewise with the tiny one. beyond that there isn't anything too extraordinary about them.

also yes steph can have gloves and uno eye that's fine.]

[ the heck is the fuzzy imprint. is it a bear butt? a new forest creature? did hikage try to shoot bunnicula and fail?? ]

I don't see anything that could indicate such except for these markings. [ but none shoe prints?? he will be squinting around the perimeter for either hikage's or any sign of their incredibly sus murderer ]

pretty sure she is the only one familiar with bullets here. so. ]

[SHE IS CORRECT. He gives the casings a curious look but he knows next to nothing about guns and lets them futz around with it.

Instead, he'll just inspect the areas around the perimeter of ox cabin again. Any shoes or footprints or other missing eyes or suspicious trails or perhaps a signed confession by the killer?]

[there are no footprints when tonbo and wei wuxian check. but as steph is looking at the casing (for what?), wei wuxian will notice there's something kind of sticking out of the grass between the ox and the winter wizard cabin that he might want to check out.]

[ gently deposits the casings at steph since she knows more about this than the both of them. otherwise, while wwx's off looking down, tonbo will be looking up for any suspicious looking things in the area above them.

... or. you know, since they're at the bonfire, in the general vicinity? the cabins roofs! idk. up. ]

[ anyway she is looking at them. do they still seem to be in good shape? what is the size of them? like, handgun size? ]

[HE WILL GO CHECK OUT THIS THING STICKING OUT OF THE GRASS!! What is it, can he tell without picking it up... i hope it kills him on the spot.]

[there is nothing up, but tonbo can look around anyway! steph will find that the casings seem okay and are the size that would fit into a pistol, more or less. as wei wuxian heads for the grass, he promptly explodes.

just kidding but what would that be fucked up or what?

anyway, he'll get to see that in the grass by winter wizard's cabin there's...a small pink canister? okay, sure. it may not look too familiar to ye olde though by sight alone.

purple heart is also just. sitting nearby watching this happen so there's that.]

but since bird watching didn't pan out I guess Tonbo's gonna go hang out with Purple Heart because he's not seeing anything else? i hope he's just fucking blind and missing something all together ]

[ in theory steph could look at it because she is not an olde but also, wwx is the one looking at it and not her. it's fine.

but steph will give the area another look around in case there are other items they missed? walk the rest of the way down the trail she was following since she stopped following it to check out the EYEBALL ]

[tonbo can have a sit and purple heart will...pat him on the shoulder. you tried. steph can look, but as she's walking she'll see something yellow sticking out of the grass between ox cabin and winter wizard's cabin. the trail itself seems to lead back past the fire and toward the store and to the lake, not quite reaching the store itself.

wei wuxian kicks the canister over and is greeted with a nice picture of a very happy stork on the label. and that's it. hm.]

[ he's still sneepy and not at his best so tonbo gets a pass for this week. he also gently knocks against purple heart's shoulder, clearly ready for another nap despite being the one to make the request? it's fine, the kids have it covered. leave grandpa alone to his rest ]
