Rise and shine, Camp Gatonina.

With yesterday's announcement weighting on your mind, you are left to your own devices for the entirety of the morning. The 7:00 AM bugle call will announce breakfast as usual, and those who still manage to retain an appetite under the current circumstances are free to make their way over to the mess hall in order to grab a bite.

It is not until 12:00 PM that something changes. Coming as a surprise to none, given your past experiences, your body will move of its own accord towards the Mess Hall. You are powerless to resist. The Mess Hall doors will lock once everyone is inside, and for some reason — your vision will momentarily blur before everything snaps back into focus.

Winter Wizard, Purple Heart and Black Shadows will be seated at a table by the enclosed bulletin board. Their bunnies will be beside them, dressed impeccably. They share a look, visibly uncomfortable, before they rise from their seats.

"So it seems one of your own has been killed. Now's the time to work together and find the responsible party."

"Nine hours remain to discuss and locate. Still have time."

"We'll help you as much as we can from our end, too, so... Good luck."

Well, you know the drill by now.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

While there was a mini-investigation on Friday, today is the day participants can really dive in to investigate areas in the game setting, check over the body and review evidence that they find! Please see the toplevels in this post for more information. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. One of your NPCs will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously. Please also be sure to read the voting page carefully.

You know there's always a chance that that's what could've burned.

[like, based on the trail?]

But it'd mean that the altercation started in the forest and then ended at the bonfire.

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm. It is possible.

[a. pause]

. . . hey, Lili. How big were the markings on the trees you found?
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[she tilts her head]

They never got taller than about my height? Why?
survivaltricks: (Default)

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
And were they from the ground up? Continuous?
coastal: (✧ that's strange)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[she shakes her head]

No, there were just large pieces missing - I couldn't discern a pattern to it.
survivaltricks: (pic#13006390)

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[. . .]

It's a little strange considering we didn't find any bullet casings, but it's possible that those marks may have been made by Hikage's stray shots.
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't know how many shots he had though, right? Are you suggested he just kept firing at the trees and missing?

[though she will admit - ]

Let's take an inventory of all the healing items we have, and then also check people for injuries. Any unaccounted for injuries ought to be treated with suspicion.
survivaltricks: (pic#13004424)

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
More like he was shooting at someone running-- or, uh. . . sliding?-- through the trees. But. . . I don't know.

[he may have brought up the theory but he isn't sure how he feels about it considering the lack of bullet casings. sighs]

But yeah, I think that's a good idea. Back at the mansion we only caught one of our killers because we realized he had a healing item used on him.
coastal: (✧ and not strings)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[SAY ZENITSU. MAKE ZENITSU'S DAY WORSE.]

I still have one, I've heard of two more. I didn't catch up with the other group that broke in yesterday, so we ought to check with them.

I'd appreciate it if people could say if they received healing items from other ventures even if they have to keep it vague how, whether it was from the furniture arrangement or from winning tasks each week.
survivaltricks: (pic#13004395)

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[NO?? HE REFUSES!!!]

I wonder if we've heard of the same two. . .

[hm]

We can ask, but I doubt anyone'll be truthful about it now.
coastal: (✧ that's strange)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
We probably have.

[though she blinks at that, tilting her head]

They ought to. While I understand the fear of implication, the other possibility is leading to someone innocent getting killed again. In this case, no matter the reason for what happened, it was clearly not an accident. To be silent, fearful for your own well-being, is to condemn another - and that's unforgivable.
survivaltricks: (pic#13006312)

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[. . . a light huff, his tone wry]

You might say that, but not everyone else would feel that way, Lili.

[he sure does, but. he wouldn't doubt there are people here who are more worried about saving their own skin]
coastal: (✧ first thing girl did was a bop)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
They ought to.

[and she doesn't seem like she's leaving much room for argument - ]

Every secret kept keeps us further away from the truth - and while we have rules that we might need to obey for safety, as much as we hate them - any additional item left in the dark only risks the life of another person.

I'd hope that others here won't let themselves become prisoners to their own cowardice.

Do you think maybe he was missing because he'd already been. Um. Eyeballed? Maybe not had the thing removed, but, y'know. Poked.
coastal: (✧ i see it; i like it)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's true. It is rather hard to adjust to immediately.

But wouldn't we have found more blood in the forest if it hadn't been cleaned?

[personal profile] chaoticlootral 2020-06-27 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but the original injury didn't have to be bloody to hurt or blind him. They could have ripped the sucker out to cover up what actually happened.
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2020-06-27 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh - you mean if someone used some kind of screen? Threw sand in his eye?
chaoticlootral: @vyco (prestidigitation;)

[personal profile] chaoticlootral 2020-06-27 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Or their power? I'm not sure, but I'd imagine they ripped out the eye for a reason, and according to Dick it doesn't seem like there was a struggle around it. So he was probably already dead when it was actually removed.

[Oh, idea time:]

We can use those marks to figure out a person's approximate height, right? Like, if it was Hikage's gun that made the marks, then the marks should be at about shoulder-height on whoever shot, assuming they were straight-on shots.
survivaltricks: (Default)

[personal profile] survivaltricks 2020-06-27 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That's only if they're bullet markings.

[he still isn't completely certain]

But it is a possibility, even with the missing shell casings. Someone could have easily moved them after the fact.
shortforever: (05)

[personal profile] shortforever 2020-06-27 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
We can come back to it if casings are found, then.
