Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and explore your surroundings. After all, it seems the fog has receded enough to reveal a few new locations.

Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week.

If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Black Shadows manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Purple Heart will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Winter Wizard doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's their week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of them, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies.

As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally.

Speaking of walking down memory lane, it seems the theater and the portal aren't the only places to relive some fond memories... or revisit ones that are better left in the past. Yes, it's memshare week. It doesn't matter if you cover yourself up from head to toe, or pirouette away from anyone who might make physical contact with you. Simple proximity OR eye contact is enough to get the ball rolling. As soon as this simple condition is met, you will find yourself reliving the other party's memories from their point of view. These memories can either be canon memories, or memories from the game they were previously in. Regardless of what the case may be, this effect will last until Week 4 officially begins.

Have fun, everyone!

shixiong: lungs filling up with fluid (87)

[ like a couple of nerds in a haunted house, yin yu also jolts at the exceedingly bizarre noise, practically ready to fight on sight -- luckily nothing happens. the line of tenseness in his back isn't from flayn so much as it is that he was ready for battle mode, and the arm that he put out as if to protectively put himself in front of her slowly sinks back to his side.

.....]

....Was that even a human being...? [ or some kind of weird demon what the hell

...anyway. ]
...it's quite alright. It's best to stay close, just in case.
fishingforcompliments: (020)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-01 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I am unsure - I have never heard such a sound before.

[for all she knows it could have been some weird demon.

she nods, and steps around so that she can walk at his side when they get moving again. there's a moment where she glances at his face, then wraps her arms around the dry-erase board. onward.]

...it sounded almost... musical, in a way, did it not?
shixiong: that i deserve forgetting (72)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-01 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...Maybe. [ if you could call that musical.... it could be some kind of bizarre battle cry...

either way. yin yu slows his pace so they can walk side by side, cognizant of their size difference fairly easily. another yodel yell echoes from somewhere beyond the great beyond of this peak, but aside from being generally on guard, he at least doesn't jump this time. ]

I wonder what brought this task about. [ it's sure...different. ]
fishingforcompliments: (035)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-01 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[some kind of cosmic joke, maybe. The papers that be might just want to mess with them after last week's near-miss wedding.]

I do not know... But I suppose it could be worse.
shixiong: the ramblings of a lunatic (61)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-01 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ there's a brief pause. yin yu glances over at flayn, for a moment, his expression unreadable, maybe a little searching.

..but it shifts, into a small, just there smile. ]
...I'm...glad, it was you.

[ because even after the absolute trainwreck this week has been, even though they're probably going to have to do something immeasurably stupid with this game, he is still glad that flayn is the one who got shoved into that odd carriage with him. how very selfish of him, but...

(i want to be here for you, if you'll let me.)

...but he hasn't forgotten that, either. ]
fishingforcompliments: (018)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[his smile draws one out of her in turn, and before she can stop herself, she finds herself reaching for his hand.]

I am glad it was you, too.

[the knot in her heart loosens, just a little, and her shoulders relax.]

...well. Shall we find somewhere nice to set this up... [she nods to the picnic basket] ...and then commence with the... game, we are meant to play?
shixiong: cause all my friends are dying (85)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ in the end, the normalcy is a comfort to fall back on. it's... a little odd, that this little gesture has become a 'normalcy', but it's something yin yu has become comfortable with. a familiar presence, and, lately, a familiar hand.

so, when flayn reaches, he shifts the picnic basket on his wrist and opens his hand willingly, so her fingers can slide into his. it's a comfort to know she's close by - who knows what kind of dangers could be here, based on the weird battle cries and the... distant yelling... so, having flayn's hand in his is a sign she's right there with him, just in case something goes wrong. their last little trip together didn't end so well, after all.

...but, luckily, it's fine, even if they don't know it. at flayn's suggestion, he nods, looking up at the path. it winds for quite a bit, through a lovely natural forest dotted with flowers and plants. ]
If this is a trail, I'm sure that it has a plateau or two to stop at along the way, or...

[ falling quiet, for a moment, he listens. beyond the occasional odd noise. ] ...I think there may be a creek or something, not too far ahead, if that will suffice.
fishingforcompliments: (010)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
[i hope there are goats at the creek and that they steal their picnic

anyway, flayn nods.]

That would be lovely.

[she hopes there is one! with a smile, she gives his hand a light squeeze and off they go in search of somewhere nice to sit. this whole thing is pretty strange, but... well, she'll take the weird yodeling if it means things can get a little closer to being back to normal between her and yin yu.

...unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as a walk - a moment later, their surroundings seem to shift and they'll both be viewing a memory through her eyes.]
shixiong: with the concept of things ending (76)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ the memory comes on quickly, this time, as if stepping right into flayn's shoes. one moment, he's walking up the trail, and the next, he's standing in a battlefield. it is not nearly as chaotic as the first memory of flayn's he shared, and rather, he feels -- the quick rush of motion that comes from moving on instinct and stops in front of a beast. it's massive, and he - flayn - lifts her hand, says let's put an end to its suffering--

he can only really compare the surge of energy that rushes down her arm to a blast of spiritual energy, the way it rocks and rattles and takes out a monster ten times her size. when the memory fades, almost as quick as it came, yin yu stops walking, and therefore, stumbles a little.

....it's only because he's blinking surprised at their surroundings, as reality comes back to reality, and.

......... ]
Incredible. [ is all he really has to say. holy shit. ]
fishingforcompliments: (033)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh—!

[he stumbles as they come out of the memory, and she turns to try and help catch him, letting her whiteboard clatter to the ground as she reaches out with her free hand to steady him. it's probably not necessary - he can catch himself just fine.

it doesn't stop her from trying, though.]

I am sorry— that must have come as quite the surprise.
shixiong: does anyone listen to this? (53)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he--wow. yin yu takes a minute to blink back to reality, fine with the extra hand to steady, even if he doesn't need it... or really notice it. ]

I - [ eventually! after he's composed himself properly, yin yu lets out a little laugh, surprised. ] No...no, you don't need to apologize, it's alright...I thought that you may have had some magical abilities before we were brought to these places, but that was truly impressive.

[ his continual assessment of flayn has been correct. ] You're as always much stronger than anyone here seems to give you credit for. [ that part isn't so surprising. yin yu gives her a little smile, again, as if to try and assuage any worries.

...not to mention, this was definitely less invasive than last time. and it doesn't seem like he's going to trigger anything of his own (at least immediately), which helps to relax him a little bit more. he's still looking at her just a little bit stupidly, still quite impressed, when the sound of someone yelling in the distance startles him and he has to look away. ]

--right. Let's, ah, let's continue. [ onward!! to have their picnic ruined by mountain goats. ]
fishingforcompliments: (023)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah— no need for the flattery...

[her cheeks are a little pink, but she definitely doesn't look displeased or anything. satisfied that he's found his footing again, she lets go of him with the hand that isn't holding his, but keeps her hand in his as she leans down to pick up the whiteboard she'd dropped. it's fine.

anyway, yes, onward.

his earlier assessment was correct - there is indeed a creek a ways ahead, and enough flat ground for them to be able to sit comfortably. she smiles when she sees it, and gives his hand a little squeeze.]

...this should do quite nicely, should it not?
shixiong: on the outside always looking in (14.)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ahhhhhhh..... his ears turn a little pink, and yin yu ducks his head. ] ...I was only being honest, my lady.

[ EMBARRASSED. he is embarrassed and overthinking now, so, yin yu falls quiet as they make their way up the hiking path, though it's not particularly uncomfortable. it is really nice out here, especially compared to camp (and compared to the last time went through any sort of portal... at least it's not raining), and as they approach the little clearing, he nods to the suggestion, tuning back in properly. ] ...yes, certainly.

[ right! okay. so, yin yu will immediately get to work, moving to the creekside to set out the blanket from the basket. it is nice: there are some finger foods, a couple of glasses and a bottle of champagne. ~ romantic ~. he picks a spot close enough to hear the bubbling of the water, but not too close, setting things out properly as he is wont to do. ]
fishingforcompliments: (036)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[he's always fast to handle everything. while he gets the picnic itself set up, flayn reviews the rules of the game they're supposed to play again.]

Ah... so, what we are meant to do is... one of us will choose a question from this list, and will write the answer down. The other will answer it. If our answers match, we earn a point.

[...]

It sounds simple enough.
shixiong: my brain is tired (59)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ by the time flayn is done, yin yu's popped the cork on the champagne too, pouring each of them a small amount, and set up a nice little spread of cheeses and some fruit... there are a ton of things he only half recognizes from seeing in the camp mess hall, but, he's going to assume they're probably not poisoned and it's probably fine. maybe. who knows.

listening carefully to the game rules, yin yu looks to his own board. that seems... simple. maybe? he knows a decent amount about the kind of person flayn is... he thinks....

....maybe these memories being shared aren't the worst thing. if one of his own would share at some point that was more harmless, that might be nice. ]
...would you like to ask first, my lady? [ might as well get this over with. ]
fishingforcompliments: (023)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[she scans the list of questions, and... honestly? some of them she doesn't really get. what is texting, etc. but her eyes stop on a question that seems as though it will be simple enough to answer, so.]

This question... "Who spoke the first words when the two of you first met?"

[...she'll scribble down her answer really quick, then look up at him to see how he answers.]
shixiong: i'm trying to distract myself (91)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ oh.

that's easy.

the smile on his face is a little nostalgic, softening his features with the silly memory, as he recalls. ]
You did. You said... "It's a ghost." [ a beat. ] And then you threw something at me.

[she turns the whiteboard toward him - she's written "I did". yay! one point!

...her cheeks are a little flushed with embarrassment, though.]

I am— I am still very sorry about that! ...although I am very glad that we were able to meet, too.

[if he would have just kept running if she hadn't, well... if they were to go back in time? she would throw something at him all over again, to make sure they were still able to become friends.]
shixiong: so i've got nothing to share (8)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[ they got one!

his smile grows a little, and yin yu ducks his head, huffing a laugh. ]
Lord Dimitri threw a knife at me later in the day, so, I'd say that a piece of fruit was quite harmless.

[ yin yu knows he is a cagey person, and also that he tends to terrify people on accident when he's sneaking around, if he ever gets noticed. his utter lack of presence means that he's able to move from place to place without any trouble for chengzhu, so, it's become something of a skillset. he wasn't really intending to be seen when flayn saw him, but.. he's glad that he was, too. ]

Let's see... [ yin yu takes a small sip of the drink he'd poured and glances at this odd question list. there are lots of things he doesn't recognize, either - 'car', for instance - but one seems to stir a little recognition. ]

...ah, alright. When it comes to dancing, would your - [ ..."husband" is making his ears slowly turn redder, and redder. ] ....would I, wait for a slow dance, get on the dance floor when it's time for fast moves, or sit them all out.

[ he scribbles his own answer down on this magical whiteboard in his usual neat handwriting.

a bit behind them, a mountain goat seems to have taken interest in their little picnic, and is starting to come closer from across the creek. ]

[but, hmm. the next question...

on the one hand, he had been rather reluctant to dance back in the very first week here - but on the other, he had agreed to do so with some coaxing, and hadn't seemed to hate it by the time they were done.

...speaking generally, though...

once he's finished writing down his answer, she speaks.]

You said you were not one for dancing, so... you would sit them out?

[...she kind of hopes he'd dance with her again, but. they're speaking generally, here. so.]
shixiong: would anyone listen to this? (57)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ yin yu probably would have done the exact same thing if their positions were reversed... he can't blame dimitri for it one bit. leave him alone he's valid,

anyway! as flayn answers, he turns his board around. it says "sit them out"! poking at himself just a little, yin yu shakes his head. ]
I believe the term is a 'wallflower'.

[ ...though, back during that task, when they did it, it was alright. maybe only with flayn: he was able to relax enough that it was slightly less painfully awkward, and he'd enjoyed it, in the end. ] ...I've only had the one lesson, after all.

[he uses the edge of his sleeve to wipe away the words. ] Two points, then. [ yin yu may not have been very good at this game with many others, so... it's especially good that it's flayn... ]
fishingforcompliments: (018)

1/2

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-02 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
...if you would ever like another lesson, you need only say the word.

[she's just saying!

anyway. they're moving along at a rapid clip here, now that they've gotten started! they might even be able to finish this task quickly. flayn drops her attention back to the questions to find another that doesn't involve words or concepts she knows nothing about.]

[when she looks up ... there's a mountain goat!

it's standing very close to her.

it's drinking her champagne.]

—oh! Where did you come from...?!

[baaa, it says. or whatever the sound a goat makes is.]
shixiong: step out step out of the sun (30)

[personal profile] shixiong 2020-07-02 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ what is it with these traveling portals and animals?!

that. that is a goat, of some kind, though it is larger than anything yin yu has ever seen in his life. he stops where he's reaching for a piece of cheese and stares at it for a moment. the goat, clearly having a very good day, is sticking its entire face towards the champagne flute, which...

...well, that can't be good. he stares at it for a moment longer, and then whistles to try and get its attention, holding up the slice of some kind of meat he was about to eat, to catch its eye. ]
Go on.

[ and, as the moderns say, he yeets the prosciutto or whatever once he's gotten the goat's eye contact, a little ways away from their picnic. it's not exactly aerodynamic. ]
