Rise and shine, everyone! At 7:00 AM on the dot, those who are asleep will be roused from their slumber by the sound of a bugle call. It seems that breakfast is now served in the Mess Hall. How nice! It's up to you to decide if you want to continue sleeping or not... But maybe it's a good idea to grab a bite and stretch your legs now that last week's effect has vanished. It looks like you have access to all that Camp Gatonina has to offer you.

Regardless of what you do, be sure to check the weather before stepping outside. You never know when you might need an umbrella! Once you're up and at them, though, there are a few points of interest this week.

If you swing by the Director's Office, you will find Wen Ning manning the receptionist's desk or flitting in and out of the rooms down the hallway. This week's tasks are now available, and you can check them out on the announcement board in the waiting room. Should you visit the Camp Shop, Junpei will be handling all transactions at the checkout counter. Even camp directors hold down normal jobs, you know. Strangely enough, Veronica doesn't seem to be stationed at any set location. Maybe it's her week off? Oh, well. Seems like if you want to get ahold of her, you'll have to pay your respects to the bunnies.

As you explore the camp, however... You may find yourself confronted by scenes from a not so distant past. Or, perhaps, the so-called-movies playing on the big screen are completely foreign to you. But that's not all you will have to deal with this week. Continue skimming the edges of the forest, and you will find yourself going down memory lane. Literally.

While the injuries you magically regained are now gone, it seems like the camp isn't done messing with your physical appearance. Upon waking up on Monday, everyone will notice that they have undergone a transformation. Perhaps you have gained animal features. Or, perhaps, you have transformed into a creature from mythology or fairy tales. Whatever the case, though your personality will remain the same, it seems like you're no longer the type of being you used to be — human or otherwise. You will not gain any enhanced senses or abilities from this, but... well. Good luck, everyone. It's creature transformation week.

It is not a terribly difficult skill once you become accustomed to it, but I do agree that it could take some time for that to happen, if they are not acquainted with similar weapons already...

[hmm... gods, she wishes the professor was here! strategy is not something she's good at.]

Lances—or spears, like Dimitri wields—may be the best choice for beginners. It keeps opponents at a distance, and the individual a little distance out of direct harm's way. It's a good mid-range choice.

Combined with a crossbow for long-range, and a dagger, or knife of some ilk for close combat, and I think it would be a complete set.

Do you have your own weapon chosen? I know you are more comfortable with magic, but I doubt we'll suddenly receive our abilities back for some mighty battle. It would be a bit too cliche.

Oh, when I do need to use weapons, I tend to use either a staff or a lance, or a bow if I need more range.

[hence why she bought two pink lances. one is hers, as long as no one else needs it - but she's got her staff from home as a backup in case someone does.]

But I am passingly familiar with swords and axes, as well. My professor back at the monastery ensured that we are familiar enough with many types of weapons, so that we can safely defend ourselves in any situation.

...Sounds like a good professor. [IMAGINE]

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to learn there were weapons classes at a monastery, considering my own background.

Yes! The very best!

[flayn adores byleth, thanks]

Well, yes. Our classes are all part of the Officers Academy, after all. It would be rather strange if no weaponry was involved, would it not?
getdrekt: (where your soul should be)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-24 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
...Are you going to become an officer?
fishingforcompliments: (027)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-24 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[she sighs]

I doubt my— my brother, would allow that. No, I was enrolled so that I would be better able to defend myself, should the need arise ag— that is, should the need arise.

...You truly are terrible at keeping it under wraps.

No wonder he's so concerned...
fishingforcompliments: (015)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-24 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
...I am not that terrible at keeping secrets! I may not like doing it, but I can manage it when I must!
getdrekt: (where your soul should be)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-24 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Right.

[he's still shaking his head, though?]

So, your professor.
getdrekt: ('Cause there's a hole)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-24 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me more about her, then, as you seem like such a fan.
fishingforcompliments: (016)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
...where to even begin... hmm. Even my brother trusts her, and he is slow to trust anyone! She is truly a reliable person.
getdrekt: (where your soul should be)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-25 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes, your brother.

How old is she?
fishingforcompliments: (003)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 03:38 am (UTC)(link)

That is a good question.
getdrekt: (Default)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-25 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
...You... don’t know?
fishingforcompliments: (028)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Even she does not seem to know.
getdrekt: ('Cause your words don't translate)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-25 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...Is she a member of your long-lived species?
fishingforcompliments: (014)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...I am not quite certain. But I do feel a certain kinship with her.
getdrekt: ('Cause there's a hole)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-25 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you asked? Surely she would simply let it be known to you?
fishingforcompliments: (022)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a bit more complicated than that, and in any event, even she does not seem to know much about her origins.

...but it is fine. Whether she or I know the truth of her origins or not, she has proven herself over and over to be a trustworthy person. That is what matters, not where she came from, or the circumstances of her birth.
getdrekt: (So please don't stay in touch)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-25 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[...]

It's heartening to hear you say that of someone you respect so deeply.
fishingforcompliments: (003)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It is the truth! Why would I not say it?
getdrekt: ('Cause we hate what you do)

[personal profile] getdrekt 2020-07-25 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's nothing.

What else do they teach? Simply weaponry? And I assume there are other teachers.
fishingforcompliments: (010)

[personal profile] fishingforcompliments 2020-07-25 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Weaponry, magic, strategy, effective command of battalions... all manner of things!

And yes, there are. They oversee the other classes, but they are both very capable in their own right, as well. Professor Hanneman is a renowned Crest scholar, and Professor Manuela also oversees our infirmary. She is skilled with white magic and with medicine!
